In Because of Winn-Dixie. Miss Franny told a story about her realitive Littmus Block it is a boy who leaves home to go to war, he comes home and his house and family are all dead, he started to cry and he wanted something sweet to eat so he walked to Florida and thought abought a candy factory so that's what he did made candies called Littmus Lozenges. They were sweet they had root beer and strawberrys with one special ingredient at made everybody sad it was sorrow. Miss franny compared a littmus lozenge to life.
I agree with this assesment because sad stuff happens like in because of Winn-Dixie Opal looses his mom but he say's he's less lonley because he has some good friends and a brother Winn-Dixie. Sad stuff happens to everybody it's how life works. I lossed my dog Copper he wasn't moving or eating but now I have a brother Shaya who can cheer me up. So I like that comparison.
Do you like the comparison of life and a Littmus Lozenge?
What has made you sad, how did you cheer up?
Sammy,
ReplyDeleteI love this comparison you made between your life (losing your dog, but having your little brother to cheer you up) and the book. It's true that life is about the sad mixed with the happy. Everyone experiences this in their own way. I felt so sad when I lost my best friend and aunt (Aunt Beth), but when I look at Matteo, I remember how much she loved him and it makes me happy.
Thank you for this very thoughtful blog post!

Dear Sammy,
ReplyDeleteI like the comparison of Littmus Lozenge to life. The reason for this is that when Mrs. Franny's great garndfather's family died he felt sad and wanted to make a candy. He called it Littmus Lozenge. You can only feel the sadness if you have had something sadness in your life just like you and Copper
Sincerely, Binyamin
Sam,
ReplyDeleteLosing Copper was the saddest I have been in along time,I feel what got me through it mostly was reminiscing all the wonderful good times that we got to have with Copper. He may be gone but never forgotten'.
