Opal and Winn-Dixie are Brave

Don’t judge someone for what they have done. In the book Because of Winn–Dixie by Kate DiCamillo Opal meets friends, but some of them have done bad things. Even though they have done bad things they are nice people now and Opal and Winn-Dixie very good with them. These are two examples of the people that have done bad things, Otis, who went to jail and Gloria Dump, who used to drink a lot. Opal and Winn-Dixie aren't afraid of Otis and Gloria Dump because opal and Winn-Dixie saw that they nice now.

Opal and Winn-Dixie weren't afraid of Gloria Dump.  When everyone said that Gloria Dump was a witch Opal and Winn-Dixie didn't listen.  When Gloria said that she used to drink a lot Opal and Winn-Dixie knew that she changed and now she was very nice for instance, she gave Opal and Winn-Dixie peanut butter. Opal and Winn-Dixie thought of what she is now not as an alcoholic and a witch.

Opal and Winn-Dixie weren't afraid of Otis. When Opal starter working for Otis she thought he was magic, because he would unlock all of the cages in the pet shop and play his guitar and all of the animals would gather around. Opal asked why did you unlock all of the cages?

Otis said, “I feel bad because I know what it’s like being trapped in a cage.”

The reason he knows what it’s like to be trapped in a cage is because he went to jail. The reason he went to jail is because he punched a police because the police was bothering him about playing his guitar. Opal and Winn-Dixie judge him on what he is now not that he went to jail and they shouldn't be around him and he made a promise not to play his guitar around other people ever again. It turns out at the end of the book he plays his guitar at a party.

Friends can be any age. As you can see in the book Opal and Winn-Dixie make friends of all ages. Some of them have done bad things but they look aside from that and look at what they are now. Not everyone is what they seem

Jakey's literary Essay

Friends can change each other’s life. Winn Dixie didn’t have a home, Opal took him home so he would have a home. Opal didn’t have a mom so instead she had Winn Dixie. Loosing Winn Dixie was extremely hard. Loosing Winn Dixie also changed Opals life but when Opal found Winn Dixie she felt better. Opal changed from how she was from the last time she had Winn Dixie. Winn Dixie changes Opals life.

Friends can change each other’s life. Opal and Winn Dixie met at a store called Winn Dixie. Opal was getting food from the store and called the dog that she took Winn Dixie because that’s where they met. This is why friends can change each other’s life because instead of a mom Opal had Winn Dixie and that made her feel a little better. Opal changed Winn Dixie’s life because Winn Dixie didn’t have e a home and was just a dog that now one cared about. I think that Because of Winn Dixie by Kate Di Camilo is a good book. I think this because Winn Dixie made Opal have many friends and hear are a couple of them. Otis, Gloria Dump and Mrs. Frany. Winn Dixie made Opal be friends with Mrs. Frany because when Mrs. Frany saw Winn Dixie it reminded her of the story about the bear. So than they started to talk and Mrs. Frany told her a story about the bear and that is how they became friends. Winn Dixie made Gloria Dump and Opal friends because when Winn Dixie was running he ran into Gloria Dumps yard and Winn Dixie and Opal had a peanut butter sandwich.

What Opal did with her new friends/Winn Dixie? What Opal did with Winn Dixie was make him have a home and what Winn Dixie did to Opal didn’t have a mom and instead she had Winn Dixie. Opal and Winn Dixie’s friends have had parties and Opal has set them up with her friends.

Loosing Winn Dixie. Opal had a broken heart when she lost Winn Dixie. She was looking everywhere but just couldn’t find him. In the end Winn Dixie was in Gloria Dumps house under her bed. I know this because Otis needed to play his guitar to make Winn Dixie get out. This changed Opals life because Winn Dixie was instead of her mom. What Opal realized was that she could of just lost the thing that had changed her life because she doesn’t have a mom.
Friends can help other’s in each other’s life. If you’re new to a school you need friend to help you in it.

Opal's life changes because of Winn-Dixie

Because of Winn-Dixie makes a good title for the book. For example, Opal fells more loved with Winn-Dixie and Opal learns more about responsibility. Opal’s life changes with Winn-Dixie.
Opal knows Otis because of Winn-Dixie. If Opal didn’t have Winn-Dixie she wouldn’t know Otis. For instance, Opal met his friend Otis by thinking his dog needed a collar. So Opal walked into Otis’s pet shop but she didn’t have the money so she sweeped the store every day until she earned the collar. While she sweeped she learned a lot about Otis like that he was in jail. She also learned that if you’re comfortable around someone you can trust to be your friend.
Opal knows Gloria Dump because of Winn-Dixie. Opals less lonely with Gloria dump around, I think Gloria reminds Opal of her mama because she likes hearing stories and she likes to laugh. Opal met her by riding his bike home from Miss Frannys when Winn-Dixie ran into her yard Gloria sees the dog and feeds them sandwiches. From then on they told each other stories and became friends. I think Opal is less lonely. Because of Winn Dixie she’s comforted by Gloria Dump who reminds Opal of her mama. To further support my idea Miss Franny comforts Opal by telling stories. Otis makes Opal feel good with his crazy guitar skills. Opal has a better relationship with the preacher because he opens his heart to Winn-Dixie and Opal. Because he has love now so he opens his heart.

You feel more loved with someone around to help you. I always remembered feeling loved with my dog around, like how Opal feels loved with Winn-Dixie around. You feel comfortable with a friend around.

Winn Dixie Essay

Everyone has sad moments in life. Like in Because of Winn Dixie by Kate Di Camilo, everyone had a sad moment. But if you have friends like Opals in Winn Dixie there is no reason to be sad. In the beginning Opal and Winn Dixie meet in a store called Winn Dixie. Right from the start Winn Dixie had changed Opals life. And at the end Opal realized that everything is better with friends.

Opal and Winn Dixie meet in a store, she was supposed to bring home food but instead she brought home a dog. If I ever brought home a dog my dad would blow his top. It was also like the preacher he didn't want a dog until Winn Dixie came. So maybe Winn Dixie was sent by her mother as a sign that she still cared but it never said that in the book, and it could be also a sign of friendship. And I also understand why she said “ That’s my dog”. I think she said that because she didn't want him to go to the pound, and for him not to have a sad life.

Winn Dixie changed Opals family’s life, for example He made the preacher happy. By transforming his strait faced self into a lightened up person. In addition he gave Opal many new friends like Ms. Franney, Gloria Dump, Otis, Sweetie pie Tomas etc.
Everything is better with friends for example, Ms. Franney is really nice, and Gloria is partially  blind but is a fantastic listener. When Opal lost her mom she felt like she had a hole in her heart. But that was filled with friendship by her friends.

To conclude my essay I want you to remember how Opal and Winn Dixie met in the store. Also how Winn Dixie changed Opals family’s life. And lastly that everything is better with friends.

Some People Are Never Loved

Some people are never loved. For example, Winn-Dixie was a stray so he may have never been loved. And other than the preacher Opal may have never been loved. Some homeless people may have never been loved or want to be talked to like a stray. In the story Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo Opal and Winn-Dixie help each other live a better life.

Winn-Dixie changed Opals life. For instance, Winn-Dixie helped Opal find friends by smiling and acting good. Also, she was all filled up by her friends that Winn-Dixie helped make. And in the end Opal was happy because she knew about her mom and now she had Win-Dixie. I think the author wrote this because Winn-Dixie acts like a mom to her. For instance, When Opal found Winn-Dixie it was kind of like when she found her mom in her thoughts because they were both huge parts of her life. Winn-Dixie was like a mom to her because he comforted her and played with her like a mom.
Opal changed Winn-Dixie’s life. First off, she gave him food, water and love. Another thing, she gave him a bath and brushed his hair and let his fur grow out so he didn’t have bald spots. Again, she would do anything for him, she even worked all day for him to get the collar both Opal and Winn-Dixie loved.

I think Opal Winn-Dixie and Littmus are alike. Litmus is Mrs. Franny Block’s grandpa. He had a lot of familuy and then they all died in the civil war except for him. After that he made a candy company called Littmus Lozenge and it was a sweet and sour candy like there are sweet times in life and sour times in life. Littmus, Winn-Dixie and Opal are alike because they all started out with family and then they end up with one or none. Also, Opals mom left her, Winn-Dixie was a stray and all of Litmus’s family died in the war. I think the author put this in because Winn-Dixie and Opal both had a sweet and sour life. Opals life is sweet because she finds Winn-Dixie and she finds friends. Her life is sour because her mom leaves her and she has to move a lot. Winn-Dixie has a sweet life because he finds Opal. He has for some time. Sour life because he was a stray dog.

Don’t judge someone by how they look. For example, when you are the new kid you are usually judged by how you look or act. The Dubery boys judged Opal by how she acts. They thought she was gullible enough to believe that Gloria Dump was a witch. Have you ever been treated by how you look or act? Why

Literary Essay By. Shimon Gamel

Anyone could use a friend. In Because of Winn-Dixie by. Kate Dicamillo Opal has no friends and she meets people who have no friends. People need friends because when you have friends you have more fun. From reading Because of Winn-Dixie I learned that anyone can be your friend.
Just because they are mean doesn’t mean they can’t be your friend. Dunlap was mean to Opal he called her mean names. Steve was mean to Opal he called her mean names but at the end Dunlap and Steve came to her party and became her friend. Amanda was mean to Opal she put Opal down but Opal understood how she felt about her brother.
You can meet people of all ages and be there friend because they are nice. Opal met Gloria she is so old she has bad eye sight and wrinkle skin. Opal met Otis he is in his 30 and he has been to jail but he is really nice. Mrs. Franny is really nice and she is 70.
You can meet people without trying. Opal met Sweetie Pie Thomas when she saw a bird on a dog’s head. Opal met Otis when she was trying to get a job. Opal met Winn-Dixie buying tomatoes for her dad.
Anyone should be your friend when you try. I use to have no friends like Opal but now I have a lot. That about wraps it up.

Because of Winn-Dixie

Everybody needs a home. In because of Winn-Dixie By Kate DiCamillo Winn-Dixie helped Opal be able to talk to someone about her life besides her dad. Opal helped Winn-Dixie have a home, this helps Winn-Dixie because he used to be homeless. They both help each other because they both are missing a part of their family so they need new family members. It’s because of Winn-Dixie that Opal has new friends. It’s because of Opal that Winn-Dixie has new friends. It’s because of both of them that they have new family.
Opal learned a lot about friendship with Winn-Dixie and Opal learned about friendship with people she didn't even like. You can make friends whenever you want to you just have to find some. Here are some examples of how Opal and her friends can make new friends. Opal would say you can be friends with someone if you try. Amanda’s little brother died so she always had a pinch face, Opal didn't know that Amanda’s brother died so she always thought Amanda was snotty. Amanda would say even if something sad happened to you that doesn't mean you can't have a friend on your side. Amanda needed someone on her side because everybody thought she was mean, snotty and pinch faced so no one was on her side. Dunlap & Stevie would say maybe if you are mean to someone that means you want a friend. They were really mean to Opal because she was new but in the end Stevie was  trying to be nice but his brother Dunlap didn't want him to so Stevie was trying to be nice while he was mean. Just remember someone is always on your side.
When the book was over it seemed as if the whole town was Opals friend. Especially Winn-Dixie who is part of the town and Opals family. Gloria was Opals friend and she always told her it’s okay to make mistakes. This is important because if you make a mistake and you keep blaming yourself and you never forgive yourself then who knows how it will turn out. Mrs. Franny was Opals friend and she helped Opal how to feel sweet and sad at the same time with the Littmus Lozenge. A Littmus Lozenge is a sweet candy that Mrs. Franny’s Great Granddad made when he wanted a treat that tasted sweet and sad. Odus was Opals friend and he taught her that not everyone is a bad person. Odus said that because he got arrested for something he didn't want to be bad he did it to make people smile and he got arrested for it. Winn-Dixie was Opals friend and he always was on her side because she saved his life he could've put in the pound and he would have to suffer if it wasn't for Opal.
Don't judge a person on how they look or act maybe they have something on their mind. Some point somebody judges you on how you look or act. Almost the whole world has that experience. Did this ever happen to you????
