Independence #2

Since my last Independence post a couple of things changed. First of all I committed treason with the Loyalists and joined the Patriots. When I joined the patriots I started off with 24 POWS and now I have 133 POWS, because that's just how good the Patriots are.

What I like about the simulation is, challenge projects. I like challenge projects because every one I do I get 10 POWS! My favorite challenge project that I did was the comic about the Boston Massacre. I also made a lego ship. I like everything about the simulation but if I had to choose something I didn't like it would be faits.

Math Night

At school [Seattle Hebrew Academy] we had math night, at math night our class's stand was a fruit salad equation. Pretty much was that is, is a fruit salad were you get 16 pieces if fruit in all and you add up all different kinds of fruit such as berries, apples, tangerines and bananas until you get 16. We also did 3 in a row with adding fractions.

What I liked during math night was getting tickets from different stands even though I didn't win the $15 Itunes gift card at least I tried. I liked getting tickets because I thought I could win the raffle.

Independence Simulation

In class we are playing a game for the Revolutionary War. In the game we get random  identities, I am        a shopkeeper and i'm jewish I joined the loyalists and I think that was a good idea. In the game we get and loose POWS [money] you can get POWS by doing a challenge project, if something good happens   to you in some sort of way. You lose POWS by doing the opposite of earning POWS.

Josh and I made a plan to trick the patriot to make them think that I was going to be on their team when I was always going to be on the loyalists. I enjoy doing challenge projects, congresses, meetings, giving PACTS [hurt people in a way] on other people. Nothing has been challenging for me except for the hero summary that was a little challenging for me.

Hero Summary

Daniel Morgan believed that there was a better way like a sneak attack and much more. He also was smart for changing the tactics of war. At this time the American Revolution was going on. Daniel Morgan was a general sharp shooter for the patriots during the American Revolution he fought on the battle field, and he did this for a long but his most memorable moment was in 1781 that was when the war ended. He fought for the Patriots because he had no interest for the British. Daniel Morgan served for the British forces in 1757 after he retired he gained no interest in the British and joined the Patriots as a sharp shooter. According to National Park Service, Daniel Morgan accepted a commission of captain of a rifle company. Daniel Morgan is remembered as a lead sharp shooter for the Patriots and the one that commanded Tim Murphy to kill the Red Coats general but most people still don’t know that he served in the British army.

Opal and Winn-Dixie are Brave

Don’t judge someone for what they have done. In the book Because of Winn–Dixie by Kate DiCamillo Opal meets friends, but some of them have done bad things. Even though they have done bad things they are nice people now and Opal and Winn-Dixie very good with them. These are two examples of the people that have done bad things, Otis, who went to jail and Gloria Dump, who used to drink a lot. Opal and Winn-Dixie aren't afraid of Otis and Gloria Dump because opal and Winn-Dixie saw that they nice now.

Opal and Winn-Dixie weren't afraid of Gloria Dump.  When everyone said that Gloria Dump was a witch Opal and Winn-Dixie didn't listen.  When Gloria said that she used to drink a lot Opal and Winn-Dixie knew that she changed and now she was very nice for instance, she gave Opal and Winn-Dixie peanut butter. Opal and Winn-Dixie thought of what she is now not as an alcoholic and a witch.

Opal and Winn-Dixie weren't afraid of Otis. When Opal starter working for Otis she thought he was magic, because he would unlock all of the cages in the pet shop and play his guitar and all of the animals would gather around. Opal asked why did you unlock all of the cages?

Otis said, “I feel bad because I know what it’s like being trapped in a cage.”

The reason he knows what it’s like to be trapped in a cage is because he went to jail. The reason he went to jail is because he punched a police because the police was bothering him about playing his guitar. Opal and Winn-Dixie judge him on what he is now not that he went to jail and they shouldn't be around him and he made a promise not to play his guitar around other people ever again. It turns out at the end of the book he plays his guitar at a party.

Friends can be any age. As you can see in the book Opal and Winn-Dixie make friends of all ages. Some of them have done bad things but they look aside from that and look at what they are now. Not everyone is what they seem

Science Expo

The Science Expo was pretty fun. I got to do what ever I wanted until 6 o'clock when it was my shift. Each shift was 30 minuets. At each shift we would tell parents and kids about the Puget Sound region. We would also did the pH [power of hydrogen] levels of dirt from my house, Avi's house and Simons house. Another thing we did is do the pH level of Alki Beach, Lake Washington and Eli's pond.

In general I liked the Science Expo it was pretty fun. I liked it because, I got ice cream, smoothies and got to go in a Tesla. What I didn't like was when it was my shift at our station. I didn't like tis because it took away from my playing time. So if I didn't have a shift it would be that much more fun.

Trimester Reflection

This trimester was really fun. The thing i'm most proud of this trimester is the environmental article Conserving energy can save the world. I'm most proud of this piece because I think it was pretty well written, and I went on vacation and I was in a big hurry to get it done but eventually I got it all done. You can see it if you go on to our class blog and look on the left side keep on scrolling down until you see the name Judah, click on it and you'll see it if you scroll down a little.

The thing i'm the least proud of is book club. It turners out that the book that everyone said was amazing [The Giver] was horrible to me and very boring to me again. Although I don't like the book i'm making it work. If you think thats bad enough that was my second choice as a book for book club.

I feel i'm good at math. I think this because on my pre test I passed everything except for 2 skills. So I got a 7/9 on the pre test. I like when that happened because while most other kids were doing math I got to read, and that was really fun because I love the book  i'm reading, the name of the book is Matilda by Roald Dahl.

I feel like I need help with converting fractions to decimals. I feel i'm grade level at this but I wan't to do better than grade level. Some problems I choke on and some I just say that was easy and do it. I think I can get better at this if I practice more.

Did you have a good trimester?

Littmus loneznges

I agree with Ms. Frannie that Littmus lozenges are similar to life, Littmus Lozenges have a flavor of sad in it and sometimes you get disappointed in life but it also has a sweet flavor and sometimes-good things happen in life. In the story about Frannies great grandfather that fought in the war it was pretty much all sad except for the part that they won so there’s even happiness in the war. Ms. Frannie said that her great grandfather was just a little boy when he fought and after he wanted something sweet so he made up Littmus lozenges. That’s why I agree.

In the book it said Littmus Lozenges got so famous because they contained the flavor of sadness. Opal said that were the factory used to be looked freaky.  I’m wondering why Littmus Lozenges went out of business if they were so famous. Also Ms. Frannie got many Littmus Lozenges but how did she get that many.

Do you agree with me.

Conserving energy

You go to the beach,  and you walk onto the sand it smells like car gas and it's all smoky. You see a sign that says no idling and you see like 20 people doing it, so you wonder why would they do this. This is only one of the bad things that can happen if you don't conserve energy. Conserving energy could save he world.

What is conserving energy? Conserving energy means saving energy, you can save energy by turning off your lights and all that other electrical stuff. Playing outside takes a huge roll in conserving energy because you won’t be using any electronics. Does doing your chores help you conserve energy? Yes it does for example, chores can help you get green for example, you make sure all of the garbage is in the garbage and all of the recycling is in the recycling and stuff like that. That can help green houses. Even though it’s part of your day unplug for a little.

Will conserving energy decrees pollution? Did you know driving cars could pollute the air? The fumes from the cars can get into the air and those aren’t meant to be in the air. If we were to change our light bulbs to the swirly kind it’ll help you save money and reduce green house gasses.  Did you know if you walk more or use the bus more it could help reduce car fumes from getting in the air? Busses hold many people and it won’t pollute as much as if everyone were to drive their own car. Some busses run on vegetable oil and that is also good for the environment. I already mentioned a bunch of stuff. But did you also know that building factories is bad because the smoke can make acid rain.

Diesel not only smells bad but it has over than 40 toxic air containments. More than 21,000 people die across the world every year from diesel. It also can link to cancer and asthma. Studies show that kids riding inside busses that run on Diesel get more unhealthy air than an average human.

Think, are you gong to conserve energy? Even though you say to your self every day i’m just diving to work and back, if everyone says that we might just pollute the air enough so that we won’t be able to breath there. So think, are you going to conserve energy because if you don’t maybe someone else will decide to? One more thing a wise man once said, “You can’t change what has happened unless someone invents time travel otherwise you can only change what is happening”. Oh and that wise man is Judah Almo.

Thats Great Advice

The book i'm reading is called Thats Great Advice by Matthew Pearlman and the genre is  informational. If I were to give this book another name it would be reporter. Because it's about a kid that wants to be a sports reporter when she grows up so it shows a bunch of interviews she does. So it shows sections and between the sections are interviews that are related to it.

I can connect to this book because it's all about great sports players that get hurt and interviewed and give advice to kids that work hard. So I could connect to this because I get hurt a lot in fact I am recently hurt and I love sports. I think the next section is going to be about sportsmanship and is going to show a bunch of players with the best sportsmanship.

Do you like sports?

Do you get hurt a lot?

My Brother is a Big Fat Liar

I am reading My Brother is a Big Fat Liar by James Patterson. In the book Georgia Khatchadorian is the main character. She is going to the same school her brother [Rafe] got kicked out of and Rafe made 1,000,000 enemies so it's going to be hard for Georgia to make new friends. Georgia is a strait A student but all of the teachers think of her as a mini Rafe and trust me that is not a good thing.

In the book Georgia has a band but their not that good. They are performing at the school dance and they are horrible so it's going to be really funny. Georgia is getting bullied at school by three rich girls. She spilled fake barf on one of them and got in a lot of trouble until some mystery  man steps in the room. Read the book to fined out the rest!

Have you ever read this book?

If you have, did you like it why or why not?

Hannukkah Miracles

On Hanukkah there were a lot of miracles. We celebrate the miracle of the defeat of the Greeks. We had about 500 men and they had a whole army. We also celebrate the oil miracle. The oil miracle is about a pitcher of oil that was only supposed to last 1 day but it lasted 8 days.

I have had a lot of miracles happen to me in my life. Like when I got a awesome touchdown on last play of recess. Also when I was not feeling well and had to have a surgery and everything went well. So miracles can happen to anybody. THE END.

Nate from Big Nate

You might've heard or read the book Big Nate. Nate is the main character of the book. He is 11 years old and does not like school!! His dad isn't that smart for example, he was really out of shape and he entered a 6 mile race. Nate's best friend name is Francis, Francis is kind of a nerd and Nate isn't a neat kid.

I can relate to Nate for example, I don't like school also [no offense to any teachers that are reading this]. I am kind of a mess like Nate for instance, he has a locker that is super messy and I have a desk that is kind of messy. I also have a best friend but he isn't a nerd. I am like Nate in a lot of ways but it'll be to long to write, so i'm going to stick with this. THE END

First Trimester of 5th Grade

In the first trimester of general studies I enjoyed line graphs. I enjoy this because I like knowing what other people think about things that the graphs are about. I am good at graphs and blog posts. I am good at them for two reasons I have learned them before and I work hard to master them.

I don’t like division. Because I am good at it but it takes me a long time. I will learn this because I will work very hard. Because usually if I work hard on something I get it done. And that was my first trimester of 5th grade!

are you in 5th grade?                          do you like school?

Are you in 5th grade?                                Do you like school?

The Aquarium

I think Melody learned to stick up for each other for example, when Mrs. V stood up for Melody when Clare and Mollie when they were making fun of Melody. But Rose didn't stand up for Melody that much.

Ollie’s life and the fish in the Aquarium life mirror on each other for example, Ollie was living in a small bowl and the fish in the Aquarium live in a huge tank. But Ollie gets fed fish food but the fish in the Aquarium don’t.

Have you ever went to the Aquarium?

Ollie the Fish

What I think is significant about the story of Ollie [Melody’s pet fish]. Is that Melody said, “I feel worse for Ollie than I feel about me.” So I started to think why Melody said that and I came up with a couple ideas for example, Ollie just swims in the same old bowl all day every day with no family and it can’t talk.

I think Ollie’s life mirrors on Melody’s. Because they both can’t talk for example, Melody said “it looks like Ollie is trying to talk.” And I had a fish so I know they can’t talk. And Melody is stuck in her wheelchair and Ollie is stuck in it's bowl.

How I think Melody felt when she couldn't tell her mom how Ollie died was mad. Because her mom started yell at her and she doesn't even know what happened. I know that would get mad if my mom did that to me.

How would feel if your mom yelled at you if she didn't even know the story of what happened?

How would you feel if you couldn't talk?
