Converting Decimals Into Fractions
We are converting decimals into fractions. Basically you just have to find a common factor and divide or multiply. For example, if you are converting 12/25 you find the common factor which is 4 and multiply by 4 so 25 x 4 equals 100 and 12 x 4 equals 48 so it would be 48/100
Converting Fractions to Hundredths
We learned
how to convert Fractions to Hundredths. For example, 7/25, first you see how
many times 25 goes into 100, four times so you would multiply the 7 by as many times 25 goes into 100 so 7x4=28 so 28/100
or .28.
CAN YOU CONVERT 18/20?

Writing And Reading Decimals
We are learning about reading and writing decimals. There is expanded notation and word form. Expanded notation is when breaking down the number into thousands, hundreds, tens, ones etc. like this 40,000+3,000+200+50+1 okay that number was 43,251 that is expanded form. Word form is when you write the number in words like the number before 43,251 I'll write it in words: forty three thousand two hundred fifty one.
"WRITE ME BACK FOR MORE INFO!"
CAN YOU DO THIS NUMBER IN EXPANDED FORM: 5,343,876,694,453
"WRITE ME BACK FOR MORE INFO!"
CAN YOU DO THIS NUMBER IN EXPANDED FORM: 5,343,876,694,453
What 5th Graders are Doing in Math
The 5th graders are working on decimals. For example, we learned that when we are multiplying decimals your answer gets bigger, and when you are dividing decimals your answer gets smaller. Every zero in the number you have to move the decimals over how ever many numbers there are zeros. For example, when you are multiplying 4.04 x 100 since there are two zeros in 100 you move the decimals over to the right two times, so your answer will be 404. , and when you are dividing your answer will get smaller. For example, 88 divided by 1,000 since you are dividing and there are three zeros you move the decimal over to the left three times your answer will be .088. And that is how you multiply and divide decimals.
***Now do you know how to multiply and divide decimals? If so what is 908 divided by 100.***
