Math Night

For math night we did a fruit salad equation and on the sharp board we did some fraction math. In blue group they did a paper air plane project and tried to hit Ben and if you hit Ben you would get a ticket. I'm pretty sure that people liked to hit Ben and a lot of people like the fruit salad we even ran out of strawberries and all most mini oranges.

I loved Math Night it was very fun I really enjoyed the 2nd grades Math Night market to raise money for Children's Hospital and to help schools in India it was really helpful and fun to buy things and some bookmarks and headbands they made. I loved are project the most and my favorite one was probably the fruit salad because it was fun to serve people and telling them how it was math.

Betsy Ross

Robert Morris, and George Ross gave Betsy a sketch of a flag and the flag has six pointed stars but Betsy suggested five pointed stars and sewed it in her back parlor. Betsy Ross sewed the first flag because when you become a country you need a flag. Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag. According to Ms. Nussbaum (Her flag flew with the reading of Declaration of Independence at Independence Hall on July 8^th, 1776. Betsy Ross’s legacy is that she sewed the first flag.

Beloria's Narrative

Linda is a 3 year old loveable girl she loves to play with dolls and Dora things. She is the only child in her family but one baby is on the way. I chose to write about her because she is a star in my life she is the cutest girl in the world. I think this because I’ve looked up the cutest kids/baby’s in the world and no one is cuter than her. On one Winter day in New York one of my cousins families were going to Dallas and my cousin Linda (in a different family) wanted to go to, so she asked her dad, “Can I go with you to Dallas”

Her dad said “Yes I’ll take you with me” (since he was already going for work).

They took off, when she was there she was thinking about me. And then she called her mom and begged “Can I go see Belle?”

“I think it’s too cold in Seattle”, her mom answered. Linda replied

“Ok fine”. Linda had a delightful time with my other cousins in Dallas, but she still missed me a lot –and I missed her a lot too. She went to Dallas, Texas with her dad because her mom Esther is pregnant and could not go on the airplane. Linda traveled so many places and had a lot of fun!

I asked my mom “Can we go to Dallas?” She said “No, we are already going to New York next week and you’ll see her there”.

“But I really want to go.” I complained.

My mom said, “You can face time instead”.

I tried, but they didn’t answer the face time.

I bought her two Dora coloring books, one Dora purse, a Dora puzzle, and last but not least, Dora markers for the Dora coloring book.

So, when I was packing my suitcase for New York, I packed all the Dora gifts for her.

When I arrived in New York, I gave it to Linda. She was so happy and gave me a huge hug. She said “oh my[LS1]  gosh!” “Thank you, I love you Belle.”

Science Expo

The Science Expo was fun. The part I set up for the Science Expo was doing the big poster and helping for the PH poster a little. The thing that we did for the PH testing was to take a PH strip put it in one of the samples and see if it was healthy or not. Also I put one in my mouth and it was green so if a fish went in to my mouth it would not be healthy.

I loved the Science Expo it was so fun I mostly enjoyed the Ice Cream making with second grade, the smoothies with kindergarten and our project because I love to eat Ice Cream, smoothies and to test PH.

Book challenge progress

This year I have read 14 books for my book challenge and I am almost close to 30 books. My favorite generes are fantasy and mystery, I like mystery because in a book I want things to be mysterious and interesting, I like fantasy because it cheers me up, it cheers me up because if I'm board and I choose to read it has funny things in it.

My favorite book this year was probably Hansel and Gretel I loved it because it had cool pictures, lines and charterers. I thought the author did great on making it funny and a good story for kids.

Littmus Lozenges

I agree with miss franny that Littmus Lonzneges are similar to life, because in Opals neighborhood a lot of people there had something to do with sadness. When Opal gave everyone she knows that has a sad life a Littmus Lonznege she asked them "So what do you think?" and they said sadness, and her dad said "It reminds me of your mom Opal".


Littmus Lozenges are made with a special ingredient witch is sadness. When you eat the Littmus Lozenge you will taste sadness and you will thing about something sad in your life. I think the happy can kind of mix with the sad because you have some parts in your life of happiness and some sadness.

Winn-Dixie

In the beginning of the story the Preacher was very mad about Opal getting Winn-Dixie he did not want a pet and he already told Opal No Pets. He didn't understand how much Winn-Dixie meant to Opal, Opal was very mad about how the Preacher called The Pound and The Pound came to her house but then the Preacher said this is the wrong dog because the he understood that Winn-Dixie was Opal's only friend.

In the end when Opal was having her party and she lost Winn-Dixie she and her dad went looking they did not find him so they went to Gloria's house singing songs all the sudden "Winn-Dixie" Opal said. Winn-Dixie walked in everybody was so happy to see him again.

Trimester Reflectoin

I love doing writing in class probably my favorite thing about Writing is the narratives you get to writing about a person or a pet I am writing about my cousin Linda. I enjoy reading a lot also I'm almost up to 30 books. I really enjoy leading Assembly for 4th and younger it is so much fun I also love science but for a couple of months we have not been doing it.

Some things are challenging at some times. Sometimes I get confused on things like Writing, Reading, Math and things like that. I can make it better by paying more attention in class and to not be talking at that time and following the class expectations.

How do you like doing Narratives?

My Islandwood Trip

At Islandwood I had the time of my life. I had all my friends, we did something fun every day and night. Every morning we would go to breakfast, Tefilah, Friendship Circle, and then go in to our groups  and do the most fun activities. My favorite activity was probably the Canopy Tower it had 152 steps, but it was still so fun.

While I was in My group, we took scoops of soil from outside and looked at them under a microscope. I love to learn new things. I love science and it was great to learn new things about science.

Out of My Mind

What Melody learns about friendship that if you’re mean to a girl like Melody whoever is with you will tell you that’s not nice and never do that because the person you’re talking about can hear you and remember that because Melody has a photographic memory and maybe she will spell it on her talk board. I this because Claire was talking in a bad way about Melody and then Miss. V got Claire in trouble and said never say that about a girl who can’t talk or walk and barely move.

 I think that when melody saw the fish tank it reminded her of Olly and she thought that Olly would live a good life in there un till she saw a shark and said maybe not the exact one but something like that

Reading blog post

I am currently reading the book Who was Ben Franklin? The author is Dennis Brindell Fradin . This book is a biography about Ben Franklin. If I were to give this book a different title, it would be About Ben Franklin. I chose this title because this book is about all the great things Ben Franklin did in his life.

When I was reading, I was about the invention called the glass harmonica. I didn’t understand how it really worked. I have I have never seen an instrument before. “Different sized glass bowls were kept spinning on a cradle. The bowls rims were wet. When a person held his fingers against the wet spinning bowls, it made music. Another connection I made while reading was Ben Franklin had to wear glasses because he didn’t have good eye sight. I also need glasses, to see far away. The book said that Ben Franklin had two pairs of glasses. One pair was for reading. The second was for seeing things far away.

Why can’t we fish in the Puget Sound? We do not fish some fish from the Puget Sound because they might be poisoned.

When you go to the Puget Sound and you are about to put your rod in the water you suddenly see a sign that says “No fishing in the Puget Sound” do you ever wonder why? I wonder why and I found over fishing could destroy the food chain, crash the fish population, and if you ate a toxic fish you can get sick.

Some things that touch fish are bad for them and their habitat. Some examples are oil spills, plastic, poisons, garbage and the food that they eat might be contaminated. Fish habitats has been degraded by human activities global warming construction activities log storage, oil spills and decreases in water quality. Eelgrass and kelp beds essential herring habitat maybe damaged from chemical pollution.

Don’t tell people to fish in the Puget Sound. Help stop people stop fishing in the Puget Sound. What would happen if people didn’t fish in the Puget sound the world would be so much better right?

 We do not fish some fish from the Puget Sound because they might be poisoned. For the past hundred years people have been putting plastic bags and thing like that in the “Puget Sound”. The animals and plants have been dying because of that. I think one fact you can’t fish in the Puget Sound is because if you get a sick or poisoned one you might not want to catch that.

Self-reflection blog post

I think I did very well on making paragraphs sound good, look good and putting a lot of evidence in to it. I think this because if I didn't add these things in to my paragraphs I would not get such a good grade on writing. To be a writer you have to put a lot of effort in to your paragraphs, make it long, make it neat, sound clearly and putting a lot of evidence.

I need to make my paragraphs better by making them longer and taking more time on them to make them great. I think this, because if I don't do these things then I won't be able to be a good writer. I would like to try to remember to double check my work for spelling, grammar and punctuation.

All about Ben Franklin

I am reading who was Ben Franklin by Dennis Brindell Fradin illustrated by John O' Brien. This book so far, is all about Ben Franklin's life. What I know about Ben is that he was a man of many talents, he was a scientist, an inventor and he wrote a famous book all about his experiences.
Almost every day Ben would pay money for his meals from his family since they were poor and did not have enough money for food.

The best book I have read this year so far is Hansel and Gretel. When i read it i got in to it and enjoyed it. i though that there were a lot of surprises and good details. It is also one of my favorite books because it has a lot of interesting pictures.This book is about a young brother and sister who get kicked out of there home by their evil step mother. they wander through the forest and find a house made of candy. They find out that a witch lives in the house but they defeat her and live happily ever after with their father.

Book Buddy Post

Every other Wednesday, the 5th graders sit with the kindergartners and listen to them read. Once they finish sharing their books with us, they choose a book for their 5th grade buddy to read to them. There are are not always enough  kindergartners for the 5th graders to have a book buddy so some 5th graders will go to the library to work on blogger, and other stuff.

I love book buddies because the kindergartners get to read to us and we get to help them when they make mistakes or are stuck on something.we get to read together for a long time. I feel like i get to be a teacher. i also like the popscicle stick pointers they use to read to us.

I have read 9 books so far. I have read 2 biographies, 4 fairy tales , and 3 fiction books. I was not surprised by any of the books I have read. When I start a new book, I don’t really have any expectations. But I just finished the book Hansel and Gretel and was surprised by how Gretel  was able to put the fat witch in the story into the oven! She was a very large women and I couldn't believe that a little girl was strong enough to put her into the oven! Fairy tales these days...

The best book I have read this year has to be Hansel and Gretel because it is so darn funny. I They had candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day!  liked this book because the main characters were survivors, they fought against the witch in the story and were brave. Although they seemed to fall for the witches trick, they were smart and tricked her in the end!
