In the beginning of Because of Winn-Dixie the Preacher didn't pay attention to Opal. He paid more attention to his preaching and his paper work. He took a break from his preaching to pay attention to Opal when she asked him about keeping Winn-Dixie. Another example is during the beginning of the book Opal didn't have any friends and spent her time alone getting bullied. It must have been hard for Opal since her father wasn't paying attention to her and she had no friends in their new town.Throughout the book you can see many examples of the Preacher paying more attention to Opal. One example is that the preacher came to the party that Opal threw at Gloria's house. Another example, is that The Preacher helped Opal look for Winn-Dixie. I think it made Opal happy at the end when her father did all this stuff for her. It showed Opal that he cares about her. It makes me happy when my parents pay attenition to me.
Have You Ever Read Because of Winn-Dixie?
Hi Shimon,
ReplyDeleteIt made me so happy at the end of the book when the preacher helped Opal look for Winn-Dixie. I think she really needed to know that the preacher cared about her and her dog!

Dear Shimon,
ReplyDeleteI like when my parents pay attention to me to. I think the preacher learned to come out of his shell. Great job on the post.
