Because of Ben Friedland

I walked into my new classroom with my mom and dad by my side. I walked in and saw kids and their parents. I didn’t know anybody at that time but later I got to know a new friend Ben Friedland. I saw people talking to each other. So I walked up to someone and said, “Hi, my name is Sam.”

He answered back “My name is Ben, my grandma knows your grandma and they talked about us.”
I asked if he knew anybody and he did he introduced me to them. My new class had started praying I didn’t know any of the words but I still followed along. I met more people over time.

When I was in 1st grade I moved about two blocks away from Ben. When we moved he and his family used to live with his grandma. Soon after we moved my family requested for his family to dine at our house. We played basketball in my room we had fun it was delightful.

Because of Ben I’m a husky fan. Ben wears purple everyday just to represent our collage team. Both of Ben’s sisters go to U DUB. One time Ben, Charlie and his brother Josh took me to an opening season husky game. We won it was fantastic. My dad has a friend that has husky basketball season tickets so I’ve been to three basketball games with my dad.

Displaying photo 4.JPGBefore Ben and I’s first basketball season at S.H.A. Ben asked me “Do you think we will be good”
“Me and you we will be good.” I answered back. Our team went 2-4 the next year we went 6-0 I was a starter every game. This year Ben and I went to Josh’s basketball games. I always go to Ben’s house and play sports one time we made a football play at his house.

During the 2013 summer my mom took me, Ben and my little brother Shaya to the Puyallup fair, sadly Shaya cried the way there, when we got there we both got a slurpee and I also had a scone. At the top Ferris wheel I yelled at the top of my lungs “HI MOM”
“HI HONEY” I heard her scream back, I also saw her wave and Shaya wake up from his nap.
“What do you want to do next” Ben asked once we got of the Ferris wheel.
“Zero Gravity, Let’s go” I told him.
The ride was thrilling when I was done I thought I was going to pee my pants.
“That was scary” I told him.
“You’re the one who wanted to do it” He shot back and I had no response.

The day before thanksgiving I went to Ben’s house for the whole day. We watched Nancy Drew it was a little confusing and spooky, we also had buttery popcorn. After the movie we played football Ben had a crazy amazing catch. That night after dinner Ben asked my mom.
“Can I sleep at your house?”
My mom said “If your mom says it’s okay” We asked Bens mom and she said okay so he came and slept over. The next morning we played really unfair teams of madden 25. Soon the guests (Family and Friends) arrived, we watched football and we ate and drank coke. Soon Ben’s sisters came to pick him up.

  2. Dear Sam,

What a wonderful narrative! You did a great job giving examples of many of the fun times that you have had with Ben, and describing how he has been a good friend. I'm grateful that we live down the street from Ben, and that you two have such a great time together. You are both very lucky to have each other as friends.

  4. Dear Sam,

I really liked it when you were talking about Ben with his amazing catch in football. I also really liked it when you were talking about how you met Ben and how that was the first friend that you met at your new school.
