Don’t judge someone
for what they have done. In the book Because
of Winn–Dixie by Kate DiCamillo Opal meets friends, but some of them have
done bad things. Even though they have done bad things they are nice people now
and Opal and Winn-Dixie very good with them. These are two examples of the
people that have done bad things, Otis, who went to jail and Gloria Dump, who
used to drink a lot. Opal and Winn-Dixie aren't afraid of Otis and Gloria Dump
because opal and Winn-Dixie saw that they nice now.
Opal and Winn-Dixie
weren't afraid of Gloria Dump. When
everyone said that Gloria Dump was a witch Opal and Winn-Dixie didn't
listen. When Gloria said that she used
to drink a lot Opal and Winn-Dixie knew that she changed and now she was very
nice for instance, she gave Opal and Winn-Dixie peanut butter. Opal and
Winn-Dixie thought of what she is now not as an alcoholic and a witch.
Opal and Winn-Dixie
weren't afraid of Otis. When Opal starter working for Otis she thought he was
magic, because he would unlock all of the cages in the pet shop and play his
guitar and all of the animals would gather around. Opal asked why did you
unlock all of the cages?
Otis said, “I feel bad because I know what it’s like being
trapped in a cage.”
The reason he knows
what it’s like to be trapped in a cage is because he went to jail. The reason
he went to jail is because he punched a police because the police was bothering
him about playing his guitar. Opal and Winn-Dixie judge him on what he is now
not that he went to jail and they shouldn't be around him and he made a promise
not to play his guitar around other people ever again. It turns out at the end
of the book he plays his guitar at a party.
Friends can be any age. As you can see in the book Opal and Winn-Dixie make friends of all ages. Some of them have done bad things but they look aside from that and look at what they are now. Not everyone is what they seem
