When Melody got a pet gold fish she was
really happy, Melody named her gold fish Ollie. Ollie was really special to
Melody, but when Ollie jumped out of the fish bowl Ollie died Melody was really
upset. When Melody’s mom got upstairs she yelled at Melody but Melody couldn't explained what had happened. Nobody could have replaced Ollie but when her dad
came home he brought her a dog that she named Butterscotch, Melody was
grateful.
I think that Melody and Ollie are about the
same. For example, Melody and
Ollie can’t talk, they can’t go to a lot of places, but most of all they both
can’t explain anything. I can tell that Melody does not want to be treated like
she is so young and is a baby, and for Ollie she does not want to be behind the
glass every seconded of her life.
I think that Melody feels bad about Ollie. The
reason for this is at when Ollie was alive she was really happy because she
never had a pet before, but when Ollie died she was really upset and annoyed. The
reason for this is, that before Ollie died she was screaming and kicking but
when Melody’s mom came upstairs Melody’s mom yelled at her because when Melody
knocked down the fish bowl trying to get her wet so she can get Ollie wet, otherwise
Ollie would die, but also when Melody’s mom came upstairs she yelled at Melody
for making a mess and for killing Ollie and she said, “Why did you take Ollie
out of his tank you know she can’t live without water”. Melody probably felt sad
and also wishing she could tell her mom the whole story.
Do you ever get treated badly?
Did you ever have a pet but your pet died?
How would you feel if you were Melody?
Dear Binyamin,
ReplyDeleteYou did a lot of great thinking about this question! I especially liked when you said, "...she doesn't want to be behind the glass every second of her life." What a great way to compare Ollie and Melody!
To answer your last question, Melody does a good job of explaining her frustrations. I would feel trapped if I were like Melody, with a fully functioning brain but no ability to communicate!
Thank you for the thoughtful answer! You really made me think.

Dear Binyamin,
ReplyDeleteIt would feel sad because you could not be able to do things that other people do.
Sincerely, Josh.

Hi Binyamin,
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely right about the problems both Melody and Ollie go through; Melody with not being able to talk and walk, and Ollie being trapped in a glass bowl his whole life. How would you like it if you had one of these cases?
Your OOMM buddy,
Jagger

Dear Binyamin,
ReplyDeleteI never had a pet but one of my brothers had a fish tank when he was growing up. It was fun to watch the fish and help feed them, but it was sad when one of them died. They never jumped out of the tank though!
I really liked this blog post.
