Because Of Winn - Dixie

In this book it starts of by Opal feeling lonly after his mom leaving a fews years earlier. Her father  did not paying a lot of attention to her. Untill one day Opal find's a dog and call's him Winn-Dixie after the store where she found him. Opal was suprised that her dad was ok with her halving a dog. Opal told the dog the were a lot alike because they were both ignored and lonly. Opal learned a lot from halving a dog like you need to have a lot of responsibilty.

Opal's relationship with his father got better I think because of the dog. Earlier Opal asked her dad about her mama and what she was like. I think Opal's dad pays more attention because he needs responsibility with the dog. He also pays more attention because he didn't pay a lot of attentionto Opal before and since he asked about his mama he feels sorry. So with the dog I think they have a better relationship.

Why do you think Opal's dad didn't pay attention before?

  1. Dear,

Sam I loved your blog post it was really good I also think Opals dad did not pay attention before because he was very mad about something or that he missed his wife and Opal kept talking about it and asking questions about her.

  2. Hi Sam,

I agree that the Preacher and Opal's relationship improved with Winn-Dixie around. What do you think it was about Winn-Dixie that changed the preacher (besides having more responsibility)?
